Consumer Protection Law
With the entry into force of the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 on May 28, 2014, significant changes were made in favor of consumers in many contracts to which consumers are parties. First of all, it should be noted that; The scope of the concept of consumer transaction has been expanded. All kinds of contracts and legal transactions to which consumers are parties, including work, transportation, brokerage, insurance, power of attorney, banking and similar contracts, are included within the scope of the law. In Article 8 of the Law, the concept of defective goods has been redefined in parallel with the EU directives. The concept of liability for defective goods, which was included in the previous law, was added to the law. The definition of consumer credit contract has been changed in accordance with the EU Directive. The right of withdrawal in loan agreements became a right recognized for the first time by Law No. 6502.
